427 STANDARDS AND CERTI FICATIONS Standards and certifications Workwear EU PPE REGULATION 201 6/42 5 PPE (personal protective equipment) guarantees the user's right to health and safety in the workplace. To be eligible, they are certified in compliance with EU Regulation 2016/425 in force since April 21st, 2018 or the previous European Directive 89/686/EEC which has been repealed but remains valid until April 21st, 2023 on all products already on the market. (If high visibility wear is personalised, it should be noted that logos or labels may reduce the minimum area of fluorescent fabric and change the class designation). G ENERAL REQU I REMENT S STANDARD : EN I SO 1 3688 : 201 3+A1 : 202 1 This standard specifies the general performance requirements or ergonomics, safety, size designation, ageing, compatibility and labelling of protective clothing as well as the information that must be provided by the manufacturer with the protective clothing. The number placed in place of the X indicates the class based on the table below with regard to the minimum areas of fluorescent material: R I SK CATEGOR I ES RISKLEVE L EC Category 1 This category includes PPE certified for minimal risks (superficial mechanical injuries, contact with mildly aggressive cleaning products or prolonged contact with water, contact with hot surfaces not exceeding 50° C, non-extreme weather conditions). EC Category 2 This category includes PPE certified for risks of intermediate level. EC Category 3 This category includes PPE certified for irreversible or fatal risks as well as serious or permanent injuries.
